The Challenge
The gospel music space in Africa lacked a dedicated home. Artists were distributing their music through generic platforms not built for their audience, and listeners had no curated space to discover new worship music. Gospel Hub came to us with a vision to change that.
The biggest technical challenge was streaming performance on low-bandwidth connections — a real constraint for much of the audience across Uganda and the wider region. We needed a streaming architecture that gracefully adapted to varying network conditions without breaking the listening experience.
What We Built
We built a cross-platform mobile app for iOS and Android, backed by a Laravel API. Artists get a dedicated web portal to upload tracks, manage their profiles, and view listener analytics. Listeners get curated playlists, search, and personalised recommendations based on listening history.
The streaming layer uses adaptive bitrate delivery — automatically stepping down quality when bandwidth drops — so music keeps playing uninterrupted even on 2G connections.
